History
  APDT was the culmination of meetings and discussions with over 200 tourism stakeholders in Brasov County who recognize a successful and sustainable tourism destination requires hotels, pensions, tour operators, travel agencies, restaurants, municipalities and the county government to work together to share resources and information. The association’s formation was supported with the financial and technical assistance of USAID through the Romanian Agribusiness Development Program (RADP).

Purpose of the Association  
  The purpose of APDT is to increase tourism in Brasov County by pursuing sustainable approaches to tourism while providing visitors with quality travel experiences, fostering the development of tourism services and facilities and promoting Brasov County as a tourist destination to both Romanian and international markets.

APDT is concerned about conserving the natural resources, aesthetics and distinctive and cultural characteristics of Brasov County while providing local communities with economic and social benefits from tourism, and will work with stakeholders in the tourism industry to provide visitors with sustainable tourism products and services at an international level of quality.

Objectives of the Association

1. Assist tourism stakeholders to monitor and evaluate trends and adapt their activities to accordingly.
2. Create a network of tourism information centers in Brasov County that will address the vital importance of visitor access to information to increasing tourism satisfaction, length of stay and revenues from tourism
3. Organize and coordinate tourism research
4. Encourage initiatives, practices and projects for sustainable tourism
5. Produce and distribute promotional materials to increase visitors’ access to information about activities and attractions in Brasov County
6. Identify financial resources to assist the promotion and development of tourism products and services by individual members, groups of members, and the entire membership
7. Provide technical assistance and/or consultancy as needed for such projects for the benefit of the association and its members

  Membership in APDT is open to people who share the objectives of the association and are willing and able to contribute to the fulfillment of the Association’s objectives and purpose.
